7.5.2024 – KIC Motorsport enters its’ sixth Formula Regional EU season with three Asian drivers – Australian karting Champoion Costa Toparis, thai Bhirombhakdi Nandhavud and vietnamize Alex Sawer aims for rookie Championship series among 33 other drivers
Formula Regional by Alpien European Championship series includes 20 intense 30 minute races in 10 meetings. Season 2024 gets underway in first weekend of May at traditional German circuit of Hockenheimring. Finnish KIC Motorsport enters its’ sixth season with australian karting Champion Costa Toparis, age of 18, thai Bhirombhakdi Nandhavud, age of 17 and vietnamize Alex Sawer, age of 16. All three drivers compete in rookies Championship series.
– All of our three drivers comes from karting series so this is their debut season in Formula Regional. In pre-season tests they all have shown their potential and therefore we’re ready for the intense competition weekends and its’ challenges as all circuits, cars and team is new for them. We’ve been preparing for the season in our own racing simulator which is located in Finland, team manager Peter Flythström tells.
– Our goals are set for points position in each event as our drivers collect points in rookies series. We all know that to achieve our goals we have to deliver our best performance as a team. Qualifyings are the most important session of the weekend and we also know that to secure top-10 positions in the races we need to be in top at qualifying charts. Furthermore season 2024 will give lots of experience for our young drivers as they now enters the thrilling World of Formula motorsport, Flythström continues.
Formula Regional European Championship series is a big step forward for drivers who aim for Formula-1 career. In season 2020 estonian Juri Vips competed in the series as KIC Motorsport driver. After that he gained the position of reserve driver for Red Bull Racing Formula 1 team and now he competes in American Indycar series. In season 2023 spanish Maya Weug drove as KIC Motorsport driver and now he’s in third position in F1 Academy racing series
